I returned home this week from two precious weeks in retreat, completely offline. My annual pilgrimage to the Amazon rainforest.
Time alone. Sacred land. Traditional healing rituals that remain central to my own healing in this life. So grateful. Always grateful.
Time there in solitude, meditation, and prayer reminds me that healing is a relationship we return to again and again. It is never something we complete. What I have come to understand is that our healing journeys are also our spiritual paths.
Dharma.
During this particular retreat, having recently birthed a new book, I found myself sitting with the feminine archetypes from The Mother Ache as living qualities within myself. It was playful. Also quite profound.
I began asking: Which archetype is awake today? Who needs my attention?
The Innocent Child inviting me to practice greater awareness?
The Wounded Child asking for honesty?
The Orphan Child reminding me that aloneness is not loneliness?
The Weaver watching my mind run amok, usually in relationship to others? Muy sensitivo.
The Priestess calling me back to embodied presence?
These archetypes became trusted companions. They revealed what needed my attention and where I was being invited to breathe more compassion into my relationship with myself and my fellow beings.
In The Mother Ache, the reader is invited to meet these universal archetypes within herself and discover the qualities they carry. Each offers a healing quality, building from awareness toward trust, compassion, wholeness, and embodied presence.
Like weaving a basket, our healing spirals through our lives. We return to the layers we have collected and inherited. Again and again, we return to the weave. Each pass strengthens the healing basket we are creating with our lives.
Which archetype is calling to you today?
You can find the full archetypal journey in The Mother Ache. I am also slowly making my way through the archetypes on Instagram, where the series is pinned at the top.
