 Explore Experiential Writing and Movement

Wednesdays, January 17, 31 and February 7, 2023

6:45 pm - 8:45 pm

Dancing is the curriculum . . .dancing with the feet, with words, with the pen.

- Nietzsche

Write/Move offers a creative blend of writing and unstructured movement supported by music.  Whether you love to write, panic when you think of writing, get nervous moving, or relate to dance as your best friend—this group is for you. All that is needed is a willingness to show up for yourself and flow: inward with writing prompts, outward with dance movement.  We will use movement/dance to move past the critical thinking mind to see what shapes our words take as they flow out onto paper and all shapes are welcome—messy words, provocative words, unfamiliar words, beloved words.  The task master is invited to let go and specifically, this group is not about critiques or improvement. We will start with a meaningful prompt to spark our creativity.  We will then write for a bit, read to each other, and then move our bodies, with supportive music and then repeat.  The practice of writing and moving together is a way to see what or who wants to show up within us when we don’t have to be organized, knowledgeable, or our refined selves.  The connection and support that happens is true medicine for each of us individually and collectively.

$22 each or $59 for all three. Email arani@devaarani.com if you’d like to sign up for all three at once!

We will meet at the Osho Leela Meditation Center, 1025 Rosewood Avenue Suite 107, Boulder CO 80301 or you can join via Zoom.

About us:

Sara led a weekly writing group for five years at a women and trans/non-binary health clinic in San Francisco.  She has also participated in many writing-dance groups over the last 15 years with Open Floor International founding teacher, Lori Saltzman and has danced alongside 5 Rhyhms originator, Gabrielle Roth.  “I love the depth of connection, creativity, and play that can happen when we find ways to let someone other than the planner, perfectionist, or task master steer the ship.  Every single writing group I have experienced is an honor."

Deva Arani is a Compassionate Inquiry facilitator, Kundalini Yoga teacher, Osho meditation mentor, and best-selling author.  She has been teaching meditation, breathwork and yoga and facilitating transformational retreats for fifteen plus years.  Writing and dance have been instrumental tools in her own life for healing and more awareness. She is committed to her own healing and understands that her ability to show up for others is directly linked to her showing up and doing her own inner work.  “I’m excited to collaborate with Sara, combining writing and movement to open ourselves to creative self-expression, healing and presence.”
